In our village, farming is how most of us live, but things have changed. I remember the old days, when we used cow dung manure for our fields. It was good then, truly good. We grew hardy crops like kodo, kutki, sesame, and arhar. In those times, we revered both the grain we harvested and the money it brought us, understanding their deep connection to the earth.
Now, it often feels like people are focused only on quick returns, on 'a thousand rupees'. But water, forest, and land are fundamental elements of our nature, and they provide for us. By returning to these older, respectful ways of cultivation, we can sustain ourselves, keep our soil healthy, and find a path when other work is scarce.
