Responds to — loss of indigenous identity and connection to nature
Our tribe is defined by many things: our identity, our deep connection with nature, a collective lifestyle, and our traditional knowledge. We are native to this place, and our origin, this Garia, was ours. We consider water, forest, land, Mother Earth, and Babdev as God. Our connection to folk culture is vital, and we speak our own language, Khadia, to ensure we are always recognized as Khadia. We have made this village our home and have been living here for a very long time. Our caste is native to this place.
However, the landscape is changing. Tigers, bears, and deer are no longer seen. Sandalwood trees, large birds, and peacocks are also gone. The springs are not flowing, and there is no rain. If we do nothing about this critical situation, there will be no trees, no animals, and no herbal medicines found in the coming days. We must remember that our tribe's existence is tied to this land, and we are its caretakers.
