Let AI be your translator, not your master.

AI's power to break down language barriers and democratize knowledge offers a path to feeling more capable and connected, but its implementation raises significant environmental and societal concerns.

Responds to — AI's dual nature: democratizing knowledge vs. environmental and societal costs

Let AI be your translator, not your master.
AI has brought knowledge to my fingertips, especially for those of us from areas that might feel a bit behind. It’s like having a key to unlock solutions we never knew existed. Before AI, not knowing English felt like a real barrier, limiting our conversations and our access to information. Now, AI helps us learn, read, and connect with people we couldn't before. It’s made us feel good about ourselves, less like we’re from a ‘backward area.’ However, this incredible tool comes with a heavy price. The data centers powering AI consume vast amounts of water and energy, and they create pollution that impacts the communities living nearby, communities that rarely see any benefit. There’s also the immense wealth accumulating in the hands of a few AI companies, and a worrying lack of moral direction from them. This technology, while powerful for tasks and learning, risks concentrating power in ways that could control our lives. So, while AI can be a fantastic assistant for learning and overcoming limitations like language, we must be mindful of its broader impacts. We need to ensure that the benefits are shared and that the environmental and societal costs are addressed. The question isn't just about using AI, but about who decides how it's used and for whose benefit.

With the advent of AI, I want to thank everyone who created AI, especially Purushottam. With the advent of AI, I get knowledge about every solution that I don't know about, just by asking it. Be it any XYZ problem or any task, put it on AI. With the advent of AI, it doesn't feel like we are from a backward area. Meaning, we feel good about ourselves and what we used to think, that we don't know English. With the advent of AI, we can also speak English. Where we couldn't talk to good people, with the advent of AI, we have been able to learn by reading that thing and have reached people. The knowledge we didn't have before AI, we have gained that knowledge too. I will thank AI a lot. Those who do not use AI, I would also like to tell them to use AI. Okay, greetings to everyone.

What concerns me about growing AI use is the setup of data centers which have many environmental costs including including water and energy consumption, uh noise and water pollution. What excites me is the fact that it helps to democratize opportunities across socioeconomic strata by giving different people the skills to access opportunities by removing language barriers and technological barriers.

AI is a good future. As far as AI is concerned, it is a very useful thing in India. People nowadays are able to use AI for everything. As far as AI is concerned, it can do a lot more good work in the future.

My feeling about AI is that everything that is wrong with AI, all of the problems that are coming out of AI, like for example, the data centers taking up so much water and so much energy, and destroying neighborhoods and all of that, and also the accumulation of wealth by the major AI companies, and the lack of moral vision and moral fortitude and morals at all amongst the AI major companies. Um, all of those concerns are not really related to AI. And I think all of the concerns we always have about technology, um, about social media, about any new technology, is really concerns we have about society. That we need to have a society that is more community-oriented, that is less capitalist, that is not capitalist. Um, and then all of those problems would immediately be resolved. We have solutions for everything that is a problem with AI. But we have to decide as a society that we want to change the society itself.

I am concerned about I am not concerned about the AI because AI is what the humans were were always in need of. AI can do the money money of the workers within few seconds. As one of the growing technology in the modern era, I am I am I am also concerned about it is misuses as it has been previously in last lot of some months, I have seen many videos that are and also AI has been used as the generous role for many other many other many other scams. As the data on the AI is not does not have any privacy. So with the advantages with with AI with AI having many advantages, it has many disadvantages also.

One big worry of mine when it comes to AI is that it being the most capital intensive technology in human history, it is intrinsically biased in favor of the most powerful, richest that almost no one else will really have access to the full capacity. And so it will be controlled by them. And we know what happens when the powerful control our lives.

AI is a very important, very important computer. AI tools are a digital app. With AI, a lot of digital work has become easy in today's time. And for whatever digital work we are doing today related to computers, AI has a very important part in it. And without it, perhaps our future generation will not be able to do anything. Therefore, AI is important in my life.

AI, which means Artificial Intelligence. Artificial intelligence means that humans have created such a machine that can store the data of thousands and millions of people at once in its machine and use it. Just as small children learn, AI also learns and stores data, and provides people with whatever result they want, as humans desire. For example, if you tell a normal photo to give it a mountain background, you will get it. From a needle to a ship, no matter how big the store is, if you need its information, AI will provide it to you in seconds. So AI means...

Artificial intelligence and technology are powerful tools with the potential to transform society for the better. They offer incredible benefits, efficiency, and accessibility. But they also bring significant challenges, including ethical concerns and the risk of job displacement. Technology and AI are massive topics that can be broken down into several key areas. The positive is increased efficiency. AI can process massive amounts of data in seconds, which is highly beneficial for fields like medical research, logistics, and climate modeling. Accessibility: new tools are helping to democratize information, allowing people to learn and access resources that were once difficult to find. Automatic, routine, and repetitive tasks can be handled by all grown.

On the plus side, AI is catching cancers, doctors miss. It's giving a student in Jakarta the tutor she never had. It's compressing 50 years of biology research into months for the first time in history, expertise that was that's one cost a fortune is available to anyone with a phone. On the minus side, Anthropic's own CEO warned that AI could wipe out half of all entry-level jobs within five years. Deep fakes swung an election in Ireland. A man was hospitalized after chat told him to drink pool chemicals. And the energy bill for this technology is being paid by communities living next to data centers, who never once benefit from it. The real danger isn't a rogue super intelligence, it's power, concentrated in a handful of companies, accountable to no one, going faster than any government can regulate. AI is the most powerful tool humanity has ever built. The question isn't whether to use it. It's who gets to decide how.
